Pay attention. Agreeable Venus meets dreamy and unrealistic Neptune in the heavens at 12:01 pm PST.

And there’s another difficult Mars Neptune square powering up and exact early Tuesday morning at 2:35 am. People and events may not be what they seem with Neptune fogging up your perception today (and perhaps someone’s actions are less than honorable).

All of this is on the table today so be certain of your facts and be realistic. The kiss of the day appears at 5:13 pm when the Moon sextiles optimistic Jupiter. Drug and alcohol problems will be inflamed as Mars tightens up his square to Neptune Monday night and the Moon in Pisces jumps in squaring Mars, conjuncting Neptune.

Pay attention to people and situations tonight.

As times change.

Friday, August 2

Spacey but positive. The Moon is Void of Course from yesterday until she enters home sign Cancer at 11:30 pm tonight. This is an exceptionally long V/C period and that means hold off on finalizing matters today. However, this is a good day to be in circulation as Venus and Mars make a harmonious sextile in the heavens at 3:35 pm Friday afternoon. This is a good time to interview, flirt or stumble upon a person or resource that can help you. The good vibes in this marker will continue into the evening hours—reach out.

If your birthday is this week (Jul 28–Aug 3)

I hope you’ve been reading all of the birthday forecasts this month, Leo. Because all the good stuff I’ve been writing about is also in your Solar Return.

Yes, you have the Water Grand Trine = a dream can come true.

Yes, you have brave Mars conjunct lucky Jupiter in your new SR = this is a year when you can break old records and hit a grand slam.

You just have to take your time and not be hasty, Leo, as Mars is also tangled up in the Uranus Pluto square in your new SR = mistakes made this year will be very costly.

Do your homework, talk to experts and be prepared before you set sail. Then aim high, Leo.

This is the year to create a situation that will last for the rest of your life, and give you the benefits and recognition you crave.

What would be ideal? Direct your resources/time to that goal.

As times change.

If your birthday is this week (Aug 11–17)

You’ll be wise to ask this question in the days ahead: How much is too much? Yes, Leo you’ve got the T-Square in the heavens now in your new Solar Return, the chart of your new year. There’s a tremendous amount of power in this alignment, but you’ve got to know when to back off and not force the issue—in relationships as well as business. A bright light in your new SR is Mercury trine Uranus—you can come up with some brilliant plans and solutions this year which makes it a very good time to journal and to keep notes on what you discover/create. Put some energy into improving your nest this year, Leo. Buying and selling property is favored with Jupiter in Cancer if you are ready to move. Take some time to get near water and to listen to your feelings when you are confused—the truth is inside you, Leo. As times change.

LOOKING AHEAD: AUGUST 2013 and the pdf is now available to all members

Caution lights. A challenging Cardinal T-Square lines up in the heavens in August as Jupiter gets tangled up in the Uranus Pluto battle.
So we’ll see Jupiter in Cancer lining up exactly opposite Pluto in Capricorn on August 7. Oppositions can bring a time of agreement and cooperation—a marriage. Or they spark a battle with opposing sides in court and a divorce.
This opposition really started powering up in late July, and of itself is not a really difficult aspect. But it does suggest a time to be moderate in our commitments and expectations. Pluto can spend more than Jupiter can make. Be very careful with finances in August and don’t let someone talk you into buying something you don’t need.
Making this situation worse is that Jupiter travels on to square unpredictable Uranus on August 20, and this square creates a giant T in the heavens in Cardinal signs which always want to react immediately. But that’s not necessarily the best course of action in August. Problems with travel, electricity, computers and unprecedented situations are certain to complicate your plans with this powerful formation in the Skywatch. Jupiter is the gambler and will tempt you to expand beyond your means. Better to slow down and back off in August. This is not a good month to make major changes, or if you do, keep your options open until after the square expires—you might change your mind. Avoid legal challenges (Jupiter) this month and stay under the speed limit in all areas.
Something shocking (Uranus) is bound to be in the headlines as the truth comes out with Pluto’s ability to be the detective and uncover the facts. For all of us, this is a good month to clean up a situation in our lives and to throw out stuff/feelings/attitudes we no longer need or want (Pluto). This will be a tough time for teenagers and revolutionaries as Uranus wants freedom and independence and prompts a spirit of rebellion that can lead to violence and lawlessness.
Best of all, this is a temporary pattern that will evaporate by Labor Day as Jupiter quickly sails away from the Uranus Pluto conflict. But there’s something to be learned from the Jupiter square to Uranus which usually prompts the truth to come out in some way in our lives—our mission is to pay attention and listen.

Lance’s July Letter

Friends, July 12, 2013

We believe in global warming down here on the south Texas coast. It’s been hot. We hit or tied record high temperatures for five days in a row last month. Leslie and I always get up early and walk outside on our patio before the sun comes up - and it was 82 degrees with a heat index of 87 on those mornings – before even a hint of daylight.

We’ve backed off those temps a bit this week but we still have highs above the normal range. The lakes picked up a little rain but still sit at 35% of capacity. The farmers are out of luck this year. What crops got planted are now crisp and crispier - cooked. Ranchers need hay for their cattle and there’s little around.

You have to make your peace with the Summer here. And you learn to get out early and get the shopping and chores done as early in the day as you can. Iced coffee for me in the afternoons and I take an extra stash of quarters when I wash Leslie’s van every Sunday - one of my rituals.

I use the “magic wand” car washes where you put quarters in the box and get to blast the van with the wand that has soap and then a powerful rinse. And in the Summer, once the van is clean I keep adding quarters and point the wand with the cold rinse spray up into the air and let it blast me. Ah, cool and fabulous.

The best new spot we’ve found is in Kingsville, about thirty miles south of here. We saw something in the paper about “The Cherry Tree Tea Room” there and drove down on a Saturday morning to find it. Kingsville still has an old downtown built in the 40’s and 50’s that houses small shops and, on one corner, the Tea Room. Inside it was spic and span clean. Tables and chairs painted white with bright red heavy cotton table cloths and white cloth napkins with pewter napkin rings. Very sweet and civil. Sandwiches and salads on the menu you’d find anywhere, but made just like your grandmother. Ah, this is what food can taste like; we both were stunned. It was delicious. The topper was their cherry pie. We split a piece and it was heaven.

They have one main dining room where we ate and then in the back another room, the Tea Room, with tables and chairs for baby showers, birthday parties, and breakfast with Santa for all the young ladies every December.

The women who work there really wanted to be there and serving us and that made the experience even better. The bill was 23 bucks and if I could take Obama to lunch one day, this would be where I would take him. The food, the service and the vibes all make you remember how good something simple can be when made with love and attention.

And I know I heard giggles in the hall just before we left. How many little girls have learned to sit up straight and be a part of the party and laughter there over the years, I wondered? The building is full of sweet memories. And the best part, the beat goes on. Santa has already made his appointment to be there when Christmas lights come on. You know he wouldn’t miss it for the world.
